Announcing OpenTO to showcase restaurant availability in Toronto
Hi – we are the team at dipp! Our mission is to connect great local businesses to the people who live and work in those communities. We are part of RBC Ventures, and since we launched the dipp app in July last year, we’ve been helping Torontonians earn cashback on their everyday spending at their local pubs, coffee shops, restaurants and salons, to name a few!
As we all undoubtedly know, the current situation has affected our communities drastically. The small, local shops and eateries and the people behind them are probably among the hardest hit. We at dipp have been so inspired by the grassroots efforts we see on social media and within our communities to try to support these local small businesses. That’s why we decided to launch an online portal called OpenTO to collect and share up-to-date information on businesses in Toronto that are still operating and serving their local communities.
We’re kicking off OpenTO with restaurants. Even though all dining rooms are closed, many have kept their kitchens open and are introducing new delivery and pickup options. We want to help these restaurants get the word out to their communities. We also want to help people who live in those communities to connect with their local businesses by providing information like hours of operation, food delivery and takeout options, and any other new services being offered.
We plan to add additional categories to the mix as we move forward, and will also look for ways to use dipp to further support both merchants and local residents with cashback on purchases. But to get OpenTO started, we need your help!
If you know of a local restaurant that’s open in your area, give us a heads up by submitting their information here – our team will get it posted on OpenTO as soon as we can. If you are an owner, let us know too, and we'll get you listed right away.
We will do our best to keep all of the information up-to-date. But given how quickly things are changing day-to-day, please call ahead to confirm with a merchant before heading out to pick up a meal. And, make sure you observe social distancing guidelines when you do go out. Let’s support our local businesses while doing our part to flatten the curve! We’re all in this together!
